Monthly Bulletin

Group News

Copyright Henry SniderSeptember 2008 - Another month has come and gone. We're plowing headlong into fall and preparing for the unavoidable fiasco that comes along with a presidential election.

Since we've given our membership a challenge to write and submit some fiction to one of these amazing online podcasts, we'll be leaving the links and pay rates up for another month.

Last but not least, a big welcome to our newest members Jeff Keele and Shelly Lazzard.

Keep writing folks!

DRABBLECAST

Fantasy, Science Fiction, Horror

1.5 cents per word for 500-2,000 words
(occasionally accepts longer)

We generally Accept fantasy/sci-fi/horror stories that are humorous , bizarre, gross or disturbing.  Really dark, heavy pieces that have lots of disturbing images or language stand less of a chance of being accepted. Guidelines

ESCAPEPOD

Science Fiction

Up to 1,000 words - $20.00
2000-6000 words - $100.00

EP is a science fiction magazine. We’re very broad-minded in our vision of the genre’s scope; we follow Damon Knight’s definition, “Science fiction means what we point to when we say it.” We’re not going to pin ourselves down and say we’re only looking for space opera, or cyberpunk, or stories with rigorous scientific background. We want all of those, of course; but in a more general sense we want that which evokes a sense of wonder, or fun, or simply makes us think about our own world in a new way. www.escapepod.org/guidelines/

PODCASTLE

Fantasy

Up to 1,000 words - $20.00
2,000-6,000 words - $100.00

PodCastle is looking for fantasy stories. We’re open to all the sub-genres of fantasy, from magical realism to urban fantasy to slipstream to high fantasy, and everything in between. Fantastical or non-real content should be meaningful to the story. www.podcastle.org/guidelines/

PSEUDOPOD

Horror, Dark, Weird

Up to 1500 words (approx.) - $20.00
2,000-6,000 words - $50.00

We’re looking for horror: dark, weird fiction. We run the spectrum from grim realism or crime drama, to magic-realism, to blatantly supernatural dark fantasy. We publish highly literary stories reminiscent of Poe or Lovecraft as well as vulgar shock-value pulp fiction. We don’t split hairs about genre definitions, and we do not observe any taboos about what kind of content can appear in our stories. www.pseudopod.org/guidelines
